Over one-hundred Morning Reports are generated and transmitted by the BNSF's TNOC(Telecommunications Network Operations Center) to remote locations across the country everyday from its servers in Fort Worth, Texas. The latest version of this software was authored by Tom Brusehaver, of Bloomington, Minnesota. He migrated most of the datasets from an Ingres database to Sybase, and upgraded the software to connect to both databases(a hybrid database application). Based on the BNSF's requirements, Tom used Perl, Sybase esql calls, and the freely-available sybperl interface library to get the job done. This system was recently integrated to work with the Remedy Trouble Ticket system which the TNOC uses on its desktops.
The image above is a snapshot of a GUI application used to print a Morning Report to any of many available networked printers. Other similar applications allow interactive configuration of Morning Report destinations, and facsimile transmission.

Mike Snyder originally developed and implemented the Morning Reports in the early 1990's. Todd Koeckeritz was known to have supported them as well. Since 1995, Tom and I have alternately(and intermittently) developed, implemented, enhanced, and supported this software for the BNSF.
